NEUROPUBLIC seeks to recruit a skilled a java backend developer to join our Earth Observation team, based at our head office in Piraeus, Attica, Greece. The role would suit a candidate with minimum 2-3 years' experience focusing on the implementation of REST & SOAP web services in our web applications. You will be working with a fast paced multi-disciplinary EO team contributing to national and European EO projects within the agriculture domain.
Responsibilities
• Develop and support internal and external web-based applications and data reporting systems
• Build reusable code and libraries for future use
• Develop new user facing features
• Perform data searches and retrievals
• Develop applications and geolocation tools
• Backend validation of input data and loading into Database
• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
Requirements
• A University degree in Informatics, Computer Science or related field
• Excellent programming skills in Java 7 and Java 8
• Excellent knowledge of SQL
• Working Experience with J2EE application servers
• Knowledge to build REST & SOAP web services in Java
• Working experience with ORMs and in particular JPA and Hibernate
• Excellent understanding of the web development process (information gathering, planning,
design, development)
• Strong familiarity with PostgreSQL and Oracle Databases
• Versions control systems, like Git
• Excellent Greek and English communication skills, both written and spoken
• Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively
• Team player and communicate effectively
• Motivated to learn new skills and apply new knowledge in practice
Additional Skills:
• Programing knowledge in Python and bash
• Programing knowledge in Javascript, TypeScript and AngularJS
• Experience with GeoServer or another geospatial server
• Experience of using GIS APIs and SDK to build and develop applications
• Experience with GIS software (QGIS, OpenJump, SAGA GIS, Whitebox GAT, ArcGIS etc.)
